Getting in and around Whitby

If you’re a someone who likes to commute by car, Whitby surely won’t disappoint you regarding its connectivity. That’s because three major 400-series highways connect Whitby to the rest of the GTA. They are Highway 401, Highway 407, and newly-built Highway 412, which links Highways 401 and 407.

When it comes to the railway, the town is blessed with options as four railways pass through Whitby. Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway both pass east-west through the south end of Whitby. Another line of Canadian Pacific Railway passes through northern Whitby. Via Rail and GO Transit also provide services in Whitby, with Whitby having its own GO station.

Durham Region Transit and GO Transit buses provide local public transportation to the people of Whitby. And as far as airports are concerned, Whitby has easy access to three airports: Pearson International Airport; Toronto’s Billy Bishop Island Airport; and Oshawa Executive Airport. Pearson International Airport, the most notable of them all, is located 65 kilometres to the west in Mississauga.
